Coming Soon: Transfers with Statuses for Better Internal Logistics Control

Create multi-step transfers where each status reflects a specific stage and the current location of products

Updated this week

We’re working on a new way to handle product transfers between warehouses. Beside instantly moving products to the destination warehouse upon creation, you’ll be able to create multi-step transfers with statuses — so each stage reflects where the products actually are.

This will help you better control internal logistics and make stock movements fully transparent.

What You’ll Be Able to Do

With this update, different team members will be able to participate in the transfer process:

  • A manager will be able to create a transfer request and specify the required quantity of products.

  • A warehouse employee will be able to check availability, prepare products, and mark them as ready for dispatch.

  • A driver will be able to indicate that products are in transit.

  • A recipient will be able to verify and confirm delivery.

As a result, your team will always see:

  • where the products are right now

  • actual stock levels at each warehouse

  • the full transfer flow from request to completion

How Transfers Will Work

When creating a transfer, you’ll be able to choose between two options:

  • Create — to start a multi-step transfer with the initial Requested status.

  • Create and complete — to create a one-step transfer, where products are immediately received in the destination warehouse (as it works now).

You’ll be able to choose the approach depending on your needs:

  • Use multi-step transfers to track product movement between warehouses.

  • Use one-step transfers for quick actions, like moving products between bin locations within the same warehouse.

Transfer Statuses

Multi-step transfers will include the following system statuses:

Request

A starting point that works like a draft. You’ll be able to edit everything except the source warehouse.

Ready to ship

Products will be reserved and unavailable for use in orders, sales, or other operations. You won’t be able to change the source warehouse or product list, but you’ll still be able to update the destination warehouse and bin location.

In transit

Products will be on the way to the destination warehouse. Only the destination warehouse and bin location will remain editable.

Received

Products will arrive at the destination warehouse but stay reserved until verification. You’ll be able to update only the bin location.

Completed

Products will become fully available in the destination warehouse.

Canceled

The transfer will be considered interrupted. Depending on the stage, products will either return to the source warehouse or you’ll be able to choose where to return them.

Event Feed for Transfers

Each transfer will have its own Event Feed, where you’ll be able to track:

  • status changes

  • destination warehouse updates

  • bin location changes

  • comments

  • attached images and files

You’ll also be able to create tasks related to transfers прямо from the Event Feed.

New Virtual Warehouse: In Transit

To help you track products that are already shipped but not yet received, we’re adding a system virtual warehouse — “In Transit.”

You’ll be able to see it:

  • in the Stock balances table

  • in the product profile Stock balances tab

This will give you full visibility of products while they are moving between warehouses.

Permissions for Transfers

Four permissions will be responsible for employee access to transfers in Settings > Employees > Roles:

  • Can view transfers

  • Can create transfers

  • Can edit transfers

  • Can change transfer status

Without permission to change statuses, employees will still be able to work with transfers but won’t be able to move them through the workflow.

What’s Next for Transfers and the Inventory Module

We’re not stopping with this update. In the upcoming improvements, we plan to expand status configuration options and support more warehouse scenarios.

In addition to enhancing transfers, we’re also planning to introduce:

  • partial posting of products from suppliers

  • different product types

Stay tuned for updates so you don’t miss these new capabilities.
