E-Invoicing Support for Ireland

Create compliant electronic invoices for Ireland and send them directly to your customers from RO App.

Written by Hanna

We're happy to introduce e-invoicing support for Ireland in RO App. Businesses operating in Ireland can now generate and send electronic invoices that meet local requirements without switching between multiple systems.

This feature is available through our integration with B2Brouter, a trusted provider of electronic invoicing solutions across Europe. Once enabled, invoices can be created automatically based on your workflow and delivered directly to the payer.

How it works

RO App helps simplify electronic invoicing in Ireland with automation built into your daily process.

Automatic invoice creation

Invoices are generated automatically when an invoice reaches the selected status in your workflow. This helps reduce manual work, avoid missed invoices, and keep billing aligned with your operational process.

Fast delivery to customers

Send e-invoices to the payer through:

  • Peppol

  • PDF via email

For Peppol delivery, the payer must be connected to the network with receiving enabled.

Manual sending and export

You can also send e-invoices manually or export them in supported electronic formats when needed. This gives you flexibility for one-time invoices, corrections, or specific customer requests.

Ireland compliance

Ireland's adoption of e-invoicing aligns with the European Union's Directive 2014/55/EU, mandating public sector entities to receive and process e-invoices compliant with the European Standard EN 16931. Central government bodies achieved compliance by April 18, 2019, followed by sub-central authorities by April 18, 2020. While it's mandatory for public entities to accept e-invoices, suppliers are not currently obligated to send them.

The Office of Government Procurement (OGP) oversees e-invoicing and serves as Ireland's Peppol Authority. Peppol is the preferred network for secure, standardized invoice exchange, ensuring compliance with EU norms.

As Ireland continues to advance its digital invoicing capabilities, businesses engaging with public sector clients should familiarize themselves with the established frameworks and standards. Understanding the regulatory landscape is crucial for ensuring compliance and leveraging the benefits of streamlined, electronic transactions.
