How to Configure the Product Label Template?

Create and edit product label templates

Written by Amalia

Press the + New document button on the Settings > Print templates page to create a new label template.

Enter the document template Title and select the Product and Service Labels group.

Don't forget to enter the label sizes (width and height) in millimeters, because you are most probably using a thermal printer with a special paper for printing your labels, and click Create button.

Label template variable values

There are two variable groups for the RO App label templates: the Company and Label groups. Let’s consider these two in detail.

Company group

Here are the document template variables from the Company group:

  • {Company Name} variable represents the company name you configure on the Settings > General page.

  • {Company Address} variable represents the company address you configure on the Settings > General page.

  • {Company Email} variable represents the company email address you configure on the Settings > General page.

  • {Company Details} variable represents the company details you configure on the Settings > General page.

  • {Company Note} variable represents the additional information about your company you configure on the Settings > General page.

Label group

Here are the document template variables from the Label group:

  • {Today Date} - the current date (at the time of printing the document).

  • {Income Date} variable represents the posting date for a product shipment. Use this variable when printing labels from the posting document and for the serial products;

  • {Product Title} variable displays the name of the target product or service.

  • {Price} variable displays the selected price (with a margin included) for a target product or service.

  • {Barcode} variable represents the barcode for a product serial number (for serial products) or the barcode from the product profile (for non-serial products).

  • {Product Barcode} variable represents only the barcode from the product profile.

  • {Product Code} variable displays the value of a “Code” field from the product profile.

  • {Product UoM} variable represents the “Unit of measurement” field value from the product profile.

  • {Batch Description} variable represents the “Comment” field value from the Product unit passport. This variable works only with serial products.

  • {Product Article} variable displays the value of an “SKU” field from the product profile.

  • {Product Client Warranty} variable displays the end date for the client warranty period.

  • {Product Supplier Warranty} variable displays the end date for the supplier warranty period. You can use it for your serial product labels and for non-serial products (when printing labels from the posting document).

  • {Currency} - a graphical display of the currency selected on the Settings > General page.

  • {Supplier Name} variable represents the supplier information from the posting document. You can use it for your serial product labels and for non-serial products (when printing labels from the posting document).

  • {Product Serial Number} — a product serial number that is displayed as digits (not a barcode).

  • {Product Expiration Date} — displays the product expiration date.

Hit the variable name to add it to your document template.

Limitations on the length of the name of a product or service on a label:

A long product or service name may cause the price tag text to be split across two sheets. To prevent this, adjust the number of characters in the product name that are displayed on the price tag.

To do this, place a colon after the {Product Title} variable and specify the number of characters to be displayed.

For example:

  • {Product Title}:20 — displays only the first 20 characters of the product title;

  • {Product Title}:15 — displays only the first 15 characters;

  • Similarly, you can specify any other value you need.

Editing a Product and Service Label Template

Once you’ve created a template, you can customize its design, add or remove fields, rearrange elements, and tailor the label’s appearance to your company’s needs.

To edit a template, open it and use the built-in editor. You can format text, add tables, images, and barcodes, as well as use system variables that will automatically populate data about the product or service during printing.

To make changes, click the “Source Code” button. In HTML editing mode, you can modify the template’s structure, element sizes, styles, and other design parameters.

Please note: Before making changes to the HTML code, we recommend creating a copy of the template. This will allow you to quickly restore the original appearance in case of incorrect editing.

After making changes, click “Save” and check the result by printing a test label.

If necessary, edit the template again to achieve optimal display on the selected paper or thermal label format.
