Speed and convenience in payments are what drive client loyalty today. From now on, RO App users no longer need to buy or rent bulky physical POS terminals. Thanks to integration with Tap to Pay by Stripe technology, you can accept contactless payments via cards or smartphones directly through your smartphone.
You can accept payments either directly from the mobile app or by initiating a request via the web version.
❗This feature is currently available for Android devices. Support for iOS will be available soon.
Why is this convenient?
Zero equipment costs: A smartphone completely replaces a physical POS terminal—no more costs for purchasing, renting, or maintaining extra devices.
Mobility and speed: Salespeople or couriers can accept payments with a single tap right next to the client, which eliminates lines and speeds up service.
Error-free automation: Payment data is instantly synchronized between the app and the web version, completely eliminating the human factor.
In this article, we’ll take a detailed look at how to set up the integration and how the payment process works, from initiation to successful completion.
What You’ll Need to Get Started
A Stripe account and a merchant account connected to RO App: You must have an active Stripe account with the terminal’s location configured.
An NFC-enabled smartphone: The device must support contactless payment technology, and the NFC module must be enabled in the phone’s settings.
RO Mobile App installed: The latest version of the Android app, which you’ll use to initiate and accept payments.
App permissions: Bluetooth access must be granted, and push notifications must be enabled in your smartphone’s settings to ensure proper device synchronization.
Step 1. Install and log in to RO App
Download RO Mobile App (Android) and log in to your account.
Be sure to enable all push notifications from the app and grant the app access to Bluetooth on your smartphone.
Step 2. Connect your Stripe terminal to RO App
In RO App, go to Settings > Integrations > Online Payments, open the Stripe integration, and select the desired merchant.
Enable the “Enable in-person payments” option and select the Tap to Pay payment method.
Enter the Location ID into the corresponding field in RO App.
To find it:
Go to Products > Terminal.
On the Locations tab, open the desired Location.
Copy the code from the Location ID field.
Learn how to create a Location further down in the article in the FAQs section.
4. Save the merchant and integration settings.
How It Works
When creating a payment (work orders, sales, or invoices) in the web version and in RO Mobile App, if a merchant with the Tap to Pay method is connected to the selected account, two options appear:
Create — registers a regular payment to an account
Accept (on the web) / Tap to Pay (in the mobile app) — initiates a contactless payment via a smartphone.
How to Accept a Payment via Tap to Pay
Currently available only on Android.
In the web version:
In the payment creation window, click Accept. The employee who created the payment will immediately receive a push notification in RO Mobile App.
Tap the notification—the payment window will open in the mobile app.
The client must hold their card or device against the back of the smartphone (in the NFC module area). Wait for the transaction to be confirmed.
💡 Please note: For the payment to be successfully registered in both systems (Stripe and RO App), the payment must be completed while the payment waiting window is still open in the web version. After this time has elapsed, the request will be canceled.
After a successful payment, the RO Mobile App will display the confirmation Payment Successful, and the payment waiting window in the web version will close automatically. The payment will be credited to the account.
If the payment fails, the payment waiting window will display Transaction failed, and the payment creation window will remain open. You can initiate a new payment request by tapping Try Again.
In the mobile app:
In the payment creation window, tap Tap to Pay.
The payment window will open automatically.
The client must hold their card or device against the back of your smartphone (in the NFC module area). Wait for the transaction to be confirmed.
Important: When accepting a payment via Tap to Pay, the system needs time to initialize the NFC module on the device. If the feature has not been used for a long time, the first payment may take up to 10 seconds to start. After that, NFC remains active, so subsequent payments will be processed instantly.
After a successful payment, you will automatically return to RO Mobile App, and the payment will be credited to your account.
If the payment fails, you’ll return to the payment creation screen, where you can retry the payment request.
Canceling a Payment
You can cancel a payment as follows:
Automatic – a payment may be automatically canceled if it is not made by the due date.
Manual in the RO App web version – you can close the payment pending window;
Manual in the RO App mobile app – while the payment is pending, you can cancel it or close the app;
After cancellation, you can try again or make the payment manually.
