Tap to Pay Payments via Stripe

Accept contactless card and digital wallet payments directly on your smartphone without a POS terminal.

We've expanded the Stripe integration in RO App with Tap to Pay support. Your team can now accept contactless payments from physical cards, smartphones, and other NFC-enabled devices using only an NFC-enabled smartphone.

It's a simple way to start accepting payments on-site without investing in additional hardware. Tap to Pay is ideal for field technicians, mobile service businesses, couriers, and small service locations.

How Tap to Pay via Stripe Works

Once you've connected Stripe and enabled Tap to Pay, you can accept payments using a smartphone with RO Mobile App installed.

When creating a payment in the web version:

  1. Select the financial account linked to the Stripe merchant with Tap to Pay enabled.

  2. RO App automatically sends a push notification to RO Mobile App requesting payment acceptance.

  3. Ask your customer to tap their contactless card or smartphone against your phone.

  4. Once the payment is approved, the transaction is automatically recorded in RO App.

When creating a payment in the mobile app (Android):

  1. Select the financial account linked to the Stripe merchant with Tap to Pay enabled.

  2. Tap Tap to Pay and wait for your phone's NFC reader to initialize. The first initialization after a long period of inactivity may take up to 10 seconds. After that, it typically takes less than a second.

  3. Ask your customer to tap their contactless card or smartphone against your phone.

  4. Once the payment is approved, the transaction is automatically recorded in RO App.

There's no need to enter payment amounts twice or reconcile transactions manually — everything stays synchronised automatically.

What You Need to Get Started

To start accepting Tap to Pay payments, you'll need:

  • an NFC-enabled smartphone;

  • RO Mobile App installed with notifications enabled;

  • a configured Stripe integration in RO App.

How to Enable Tap to Pay in Stripe

To set up the integration:

  1. Install RO Mobile App on your smartphone.

  2. In the RO App web version, go to Settings → Integrations and open Stripe.

  3. Open an existing merchant account or create a new one.

  4. Enable Tap to Pay for the merchant and enter your Stripe Location ID.

  5. Select the financial account where Tap to Pay transactions should be recorded in RO App.

Note: Each Stripe merchant with Tap to Pay enabled must be linked to its own financial account in RO App.

Fees for Processing Tap to Pay Payments

The Stripe integration is available starting with the Startup plan in RO App at no additional cost.

Stripe applies its own transaction fees based on your country and the payment method used. For the latest pricing information, please refer to Stripe's official pricing page.
