We continue expanding customization capabilities in RO App. After introducing multiple asset types, now you can also create product types with their own forms and list of fields.
This update helps you structure your product catalog more efficiently and work with different categories of products using separate sets of information.
For example:
a bike repair shop can use different product types for bicycles, spare parts, and accessories;
an electronics service business can separate smartphones, laptops, and components;
a car service business can separate tires, batteries, oils, and spare parts.
Each product type can have its own fields, helping employees enter only relevant information and keep product data more standardized.
What Product Types Allow You to Do
With Product Types, you can:
create multiple product types with separate forms and set of fields;
make specific fields required only for selected types;
standardize how employees fill product information;
simplify product creation and inventory management.
This helps reduce unnecessary fields, minimize mistakes, and adapt RO App to different inventory and service workflows.
How It Works
When creating or editing a product, you can select the required product type.
Depending on the selected type, RO App will automatically display the corresponding form and fields.
For example:
a “Spare part” type may contain manufacturer, compatibility, and serial number fields;
an “Accessory” type may include color, size, or material;
an “Engine” type may display horsepower, engine type, and production year.
How to Set Up Product Types
To create product types:
Go to Settings > Forms editor > Products.
Create a new Product type.
Configure the required fields and form layout.
Set which fields should be required.
Save the changes and start using product types in your catalog.
